I used to be the favorite person of somebody.

I first came across an print interview with Miranda July before the release of Me and You and Everyone We Know. I learned that she was a performance artist, video artist, artist artist, and now Writer and Director in the Cinema. (Now was then.)

When I finally saw Me and You and Everyone We Know – after it had been recommended to me numerous times – I decided I had my first crush on a Writer and Director in the Cinema. (Sophia Coppola you just don’t quite do it for me!)

But seriously, the movie is pretty good. It’s worth mentioning that it contains one of the funniest scenes in any movie, ever. Maybe I’ll post that for your amusement at a later date. For now, I’ve got something a little more underground.

Are You the Favorite Person of Anybody? is a short film directed by Miguel Arteta, and features John C. Reilly, Mike White and Ms. July. It gives you little choice but to ask yourself at least one question.

P.S.

“Miguel Arteta, who directed, was still in love with [July] at the time, and in an interview with Wholphin said, ‘The shoot was painless but sure enough, by the time I started editing, we were broken up. This little short is like a rear-view mirror that survived a fabulous, painful crash.’”
